Music Therapy

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a recognised form of expressive therapy that uses music in a structured, therapeutic way to support mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing. Facilitated by a qualified music therapist, sessions may involve listening to music, singing, songwriting, playing instruments, or engaging in rhythmic movement.

At Aided Hearts, we believe in the power of music as a healing tool—one that helps individuals express emotions, build confidence, and reconnect with themselves and others in meaningful ways.

How Music Therapy Helps

Music therapy can be especially beneficial for NDIS participants who are seeking alternative, person-centred approaches to support their individual goals. Whether the focus is on emotional regulation, social participation, communication, or mental health, music therapy offers a safe and creative space for growth.

Benefits include:

  • Reducing anxiety and managing stress

  • Enhancing emotional expression

  • Supporting communication and cognitive development

  • Building social connections through group work

  • Boosting self-esteem and motivation

Who Can Access Music Therapy?

Music therapy is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and is funded through the NDIS. At Aided Hearts, we work closely with:

  • Children with autism or developmental delay

  • Young people facing emotional or behavioural challenges

  • Adults with psychosocial disabilities or mental health needs

  • Participants managing trauma, grief, or chronic illness

As an NDIS-registered provider, we support participants under both Core and Capacity Building supports, ensuring music therapy is aligned with their NDIS goals and funding plans.
